Sizing: To ensure your first aid hat fits properly, please untie the ribbons and retie them while placing the hat on top of your head (have a look at this video to see how to do it perfectly).
This is a basic fedora with a brim large enough to provide plenty of sun protection. After the raffia tape is stitched into shape, the hat is dunked into a bucket of water, soaked overnight, and then molded and pressed. Once dried, it becomes soft and pliable, with striations of color that are unique to each hat. The Chewing Gum is ideal for traveling—it can take endless abuse without losing its nonchalant charm. Floppy and unstructured, the hat tends to fit loosely.

Made from a double layer of ultra-flexible woven raffia, the Alpargatas has a bucket crown that sits slightly higher on the head than a conventionally fitting hat. Our hand-crocheted raffia fedora is so versatile that we can’t stop thinking of new uses for it. Would be cute as a gardening hat. The fruits and flowers are cross-stitched onto the hat, sampler style, with colored raffia. A random whipstitch edges the border of the brim.
